The entrance to the house is the first place you see when you arrive. It reflects what the rest of the garden will be like, and as the saying goes, it’s the first impression that counts (in the case of resale, for example).

landscaping in front of the house

On the other hand, it’s the place you spend most of your time every day, and should be pleasant in all seasons. It is therefore important to pay particular attention to the creation of this space in front of your home.

Our tips for successful landscaping:

>Plan all the traffic routes in your front yard for vehicles, lawnmower equipment (avoid steps), children playing, access to the wood shed, dogs running around the house 15 times a day… Mark them with paths or Japanese steps.

>Anticipate your plantings and decorations so that the view is beautiful when you arrive from the street, then in reverse when you leave the house, and finally from the various windows located on this side of the house. Don’t put plants that are getting too big right in front of a window, as this will greatly reduce the brightness of the adjoining room (unless that’s what you’re looking for).

>Integrate this space into the garden as a whole, using materials and colors that are in harmony with the rest of your exterior.

>To make a feature stand out from the facade, consider either a tall flowering plant (2m), or a tall decorative object (min. 1.5 m) that will draw the eye and create a focal point. The risk often encountered is to use only small plants that don’t give the landscape enough structure.

=> To make sure you’re making the right choices, run a landscaping simulation with our ingenious tool, which will automatically determine the plants best suited to your environment and exposure. Then all you have to do is go to your favorite garden center with the list of plants you’ve received by e-mail.
