The design of your home’s exterior entrance is essential, as it’s the place you pass through most often and see every day.
The entrance on the gate side must be practical for parking your vehicles (car, bike, etc.), but you must also leave enough space to walk around without being blocked by vehicles, i.e. you need a passageway at least one meter wide. The floor is ideally hard enough for a stroller, for example.
To make your entrance a welcoming place, it’s important to create an entrance bed that’s beautiful in every season. To do this, consider plants that give structure to the bed, followed by others that add color (foliage, wood, flowers).
To limit maintenance, you can use geotextile fabric to prevent weeds from growing, then cover with mulch, as shown here with slate.
Remember to design your entrance lighting carefully, as it should be pleasant to walk through serenely at night too.
